Please, do not ever tell me: "You are too old…!"

Do not ever tell me: “You are too old!”…

Do not ever ask me again with disdain and mocking me “when are you going to stop swimming?”…

Do not ever think I cannot achieve something because I am a woman…

Don not ever qualify something as impossible…

I wish we live everyday acknowledging that human beings are made of an unbreakable substance… made of will and desire … of an impulse and enthusiasm that takes us further, and for some like me, that impulse makes me keep on stroking until I reach the other shore….… But also, that impulse and enthusiasm takes us to walk our children to the school bus, to be by their side in tough times, to share with them the best of our life, to spend time with them, loving them and caring for them; it takes us to give our best at work every day, to care for our parents, to share with our siblings, and to  give 100% to try to teach our kids that every step counts. That impulse fills our hearts with love.

In the mean while, as long as there are people like Diana Nayad that inspire other people like me, showing us a path in which, we can walk-swim… it is worth to always keep on going … isn’t it?

Diana Nayad achieved her goal of swimming from Cuba to Florida, but beyond the hours in the water… 53 hours, the sun, the salt in her mouth, the jellyfish stings, the fatigue, the waves, the drowsiness caused by such feeding, skin rash, in the end, beyond her previous attempts and failures, Diana Nayad never quitted her dream, never stopped dreaming with her eyes opened to make her dreams come true. My total respect and admiration to this woman… that’s how I want to be when I grow up, I want to be a woman with an invincible will and a wonderful desire to live up to the maximum until I reach my own dreams!

Also, this is how how I would like my kids to live their lives… with a daily enthusiasm of giving their 100%, to their family, their loved ones, at school, to their friends, caring, being kind and polite, with spirit strength, acknowledging others, supporting those who need it, with tolerance and giving their best every day to make their dreams come true. So be it!

I am sure the goal Diana Nayad reached shall inspire lots of people… My recognition and admiration!
